Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy is a co-facilitated model that incorporates horses into client’s sessions. Under the guidance of a Masters’ Level clinician and a certified Equine Specialist, clients are provided with a safe space to interact with a herd of horses who are known to promote emotional growth and healing. Experiential growth and healing happen through direct experiences with the horses, such as grooming and touching. Each client is given the opportunity to set their therapeutic goals with the team to develop skills such as emotional regulation, relief of PTSD symptoms, moral grief, connection, trust and daily life challenges. No horse experience is needed as all interactions are on the ground.
Equine Connection Sessions
Equine Connection Sessions are a more direct approach and not co-facilitated. In these sessions the client works directly with the Equine Specialist through direct activities that develop skills in basic horsemanship. Through this one-on-one interaction the client can work on understanding the horse as well as themselves through learning groundwork and care. Through consistent, calm interactions the client and the horse build trust and learn to recognize and interpret each other’s body language through intention and energy. Being grounded and present during these interactions allows the horse and the human to better communicate with one another and provide the client with the tools to translate the experience into their daily lives.
Group Opportunities
Group opportunities are also available. Whether looking for team development, communication or a grounded place to come together we are happy to tailor your experience with the herd.
Visits
Visits from the horses are available but limited. Let us know what you are looking for and we will do our best to accommodate.
